lyrics

we lay in bed, you took a nap
i thought well i could live with that
but when you woke, the way we spoke
it broke my heart up pretty bad

you woke up on her flatmate's bed
with blurry eyes and spinning heads
through morning breath you shared a kiss
you don't get happier than this

i spoke to you when you got back
you shared a smile with this sad-sack
though i was bested by the heat
and you were nimble and naiive

in brussels i saw a jazz band
with people there to lend a hand
they liked my voice, the words i choose
they liked my jacket and my shoes

and yesterday i drank my fill
from five-past-six to seven-til
i knew i said just leave me be
after you made my piercing bleed

wood-panelled floors, a darkened room
trying to get things in order
i stayed awake every night
by the lithuanian border
anxieties for those two weeks
that always seemed the longest
when all i had were facebook messages
i got from thomas

tomorrow you'll wake in her bed
you'll love her eyes, you'll kiss her hair
and i will keep playing the fool
we'll talk when we both get to school

about

Strange New Places Northern Ireland, UK

Strange New Places are a band of right-on radicals with low self-esteem. Assembled in Belfast, nestled between folk punk and power pop, we're often found singing about politics, mental health, and queerness (when we're not quoting 90s TV and getting in peoples way). Are we hot?
We are not.
